6. What do you believe a carriers role is?
--> like in RL; it provides a big platform for pilots to land, refuel, restart and going back to the battlefield. The secondary function of a hauler is also used in RL so i think that is fine, but a freighter still shall have more benefits for hauling then the carrier. Carriers provide logistic support, and shall give to the fleed a scanning-bonus since the carrier must have a bridge with pretty much capabilities, all those benefits shall be handed over to the pilots. He shall have none - little firepower by itself, but a huge amount of defense, his weapons are his pilots or his fighters. nuff said:-)
7. Do you believe the carrier achieves this role through it's current abilities?
--> NO
8. What would you change about the carrier if this drone change came into effect? Increased Repair Range? Increased Repair Amount? A Triage buff to allow control of the 5 fighters/drones you're able to deploy? The ability to control 5 additional fighters/drones if Triage Mode is activated? Less Cap needed for self rep/remote rep? (add what you believe would be a change worthy of the suggested drone change)
--> In my opinion carriers should be able to defend themselve for a long time, but direct damage should be limited to automatic defense-systems (Turret-platforms, rockets, etc...) which act completely script-based and attack the nearest one automatically and a max of 1 or 2 big Autocannons/Torpedos like a RL Carrier has(some even dont have any defense weapins except jamming and their pilots). The Drone change sounds ok, but the fighters shall have a much more better buff when controlled by a carrier due to his superior onboard-systems. Increase his logistic role with a better repair-range or even with a AOE-repair system for close-range support. check out wikipedia and other ressources and read the details about current carriers closely, then adapt it for the universe (which you will notice is prtty easy) and dont add fantasy based ideas, just use the concept of it and add more kind of capital ships instead of letting the carrier having a multi-role in this universe.
